    Default Rose Butternut

    So many timbers and so many names and just when you think you've heard them all, Rose Butternut. Must be a pumpkin tree . This came from the joinery shop in Ipswich that is closing down. The owner had a quantity that he wouldn't sell because he wanted to make a table from it but he gave me enough offcuts to make a few boxes.

    Nice work, DD, I do like a good bevel. I like how the top is just veneered on like that too.

    Very nice double.d.

    I like your choice for the top.

    I have used a fair bit of rose Butternut in my shed and the frame for the doors.

    Good to work and it can have an interesting orange striping along the grain.

    Thanks Peter. The top is actually glued into the rebated box sides and i do the bevel deep enough so that it takes in some of the lid as well which gives a contrast to the lid and sides.
