    Default Rosewood and Jarrah Box

This is the last of the Rosewood that I bought from Greg Ward at the 2011 Sydney Wood Show. The box is made with small dominos and is finished with wipe on satin poly. The centre lid medallion and handles are jarrah burl.
    The overall box dimensions are 305mm x 197mm x 120 mm high.

    Default rosewood

Need to go through the old stock to see what I can find for this year's show as well. That was a most unusual rosewood, regrowth around a dead ssection of the tree.
    Beautiful work.

Hi Greg, if you find any Rosewood with the similar markings please put some aside. This piece was exceptional as it has some stunning grain.

Nice work Ruddy, like the design, and the way you've shown off the figure in the front of the box.

That box hits all the spots. Really something to enjoy. Love the Japanese influence in the design. The colour, the finish. Don't know how you can get such precision, even the lid insert is uniform in its profile..... Stunning Ruddy. Can you tell yet that I like it?

Thanks for all the comments. It was an exceptional piece of rosewood, cranky grain and beautiful contrasting colour. I have made two boxes from this piece of wood, the first one was the oval box I had previously posted and then I thought this style of box would put good use to the remainder.
It is nice to start a project where you begin with the wood and then decide what to do with it.
Here a couple more pictures showing the grain.

I love the Jarrah/Rosewood combination. Works well. A nice, subtle contrast.
