    Default sanding a box

    Hey guys,

Ive been trying a few small boxes lately and the method I have been shown is to make the box solid and then run the circular saw through it to cut the lid off. Ive been doing this but when I'm sanding it, I always round the 4 corners. Is there a trick anyone uses? I might be doing it wrong from the start. I'm going to the trouble of doing dovetails and its a big big disappointment when the lid has gaps...

    Any tips.

    Thanks heaps.

    Benji.

    G'day Benji,
There are far more experienced box makers here just waiting to give you the "good oil",
but just in the meanwhile, how are you sanding the lid when its seperated??

I use sandpaper on a flat surface, and it doesn't take much.
I use glass for the flat surface.
Are you cutting all the way through on the saw-table, or just undercutting and taking the wafer out with a blade like a scalpel or exacto or a stanley knife????

    Hello Benji,

Please look at my post # 38 on this thread. This method works great for me.

The sanding paper on a flat surface is so simple I shold have thought of it . I would be a bit worried using a plane of taking chips off the edges, but I havent used my plane much, might be time for some practice. I have been using eletric sanders for the job, might be time to try the darkside and see how I go.

    thanks
    Benji
