Hi Markdem,
For high end brassware I use Andrew Crawford's SMART hinges (www.smartboxmaker.com) or Ian Hawthorne's Neat hinges (www.jewelleryboxhardware.com). BTW, the latter has a sale on at the moment for their mid-range stuff but not their high end. I prefer these two for stop hinges over Brusso (Brusso.com) as the knuckles on the Brusso stop hinges are nor as slick. However, Brusso quality is top-notch and they do a superb stop hinge that is fully external.
Locally (Melbourne) have a look at www.gernerhinges.com.
At the cheaper end of the market try www.veneerinlay.com.au or www.timbecon.com.au or www.timberbits.com.au or www.goodsandchattels.com or www.waggarestorationcentre.com.au or www.cwsonline.com.au - or if you fancy a dip in the US pond www.smallboxhardware.com or www.leevalley.com or www.craft-inc.myshopify.com or www.rockler.com. In the UK, www.Rutlands.co.uk or www.aesquire.com or www.whitechapel-ltd.com or www.procraft.co.uk
While I would endorse the hinges in the first paragraph they really are expensive. However, most of the stop hinges I've bought from local companies have been very hit and miss in their opening angles, leaf thickness, plating etc. if anyone knows of a good quality brass stop hinge up to $25 a pair I'd be very interested to hear.
Happy surfing!
Brian

Thanks everyone. I have never seen any boxes "in the flesh" as it where so I don't really have anything to compare my efforts too.
I have done some thinking for the design for my second attempt and will try to get started this weekend. I will endeavour to get this one tighter...
Brian - thanks for the list of sites, I will have a look at them tomorrow.
Thanks again.

Hi Mark,
There is some top quality brass hardware available close to you: Gerner Hinges
Plenty of other sources too like here in Brisbane at Goods & Chattels - they have a wider range from fairly basic to good quality - look for the extruded brass hinges etc rather than pressed, but they also have good quality catches etc.
