    Default Sheoak Box

I received a block of Sheoak from dusteater a few months ago and stashed it away until the band saw arrived, which it did and the block was the first thing i sliced up. I like Reds and Oranges so was fascinated by what came from the block. The box size was dictated by the size of the stock. I added the Jacaranda inlay to the lid to break it up and the tray is Jacaranda as well. I thought i had the feet design nailed but the real look i was after came to me when this one was finished so i'll try it on the next one as this one was snapped up quick by a family member.
It's the first time using this timber and i found it a pleasure to work with and it sands to a silky smooth finish and with two coats of burnishing oil it didn't need wax to give it a sheen.

    Beautiful box DD,
It's a great pleasure when you get to bring a well figured piece of timber to life we are very lucky to have some timber getters that can supply this quality of material for our use. What have you used to line the tray?
    Regards Rod.

Thanks Rod. The box and tray base have been lined with a self adhesive felt.
Totally agree with you regarding our fellow forum members who go to a lot of trouble to keep our meagre needs satisfied.
