    Default Square Box

This box was made using the EZ Mitre technique that was shown in WOOD magazine in November 2011. HOME - theartofboxes.com In this instance I made some 4 mm veneer from Rosewood and Maple on the bandsaw and laminated the pieces to some 3mm tempered Masonite. The box measures 115mm x 115mm x 75 mm high. As you can see you get continuous grain on the adjoining edges. The box has a burnished oil finish and is lined with green pigskin suede. This technique allows thin wall sections to be made into a box.

Hi Ruddy You say that this technique is in the 2011 Wood magazine. I have searched but been unable to find any reference to it. Would you mind supplying a link to the magazine please. Thanks

    Hi Bob
I don't have the copy of the UKWood magazine but you can find some information on the technique at this link. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the comments. This technique is really so simple and it produces perfect mitres
I have used it to make tiny boxes that are only 50mm x 30 mm x30 mm high with a 4mm wall thickness. I have also made numerous pencil boxes with a sliding lid using this technique. You cut all the rebates and slots in the flat and after mitres are grooved the box is just folded up like origami with glue in the mitres and then taped while the glue sets.
