Testing some boxes
I have been working on these boxes for awhile now and have taken the opportunity to have a bit of a play with the box design, the woods and some of my "toys"
The boxes are 250mm x 125mm x 65mm. Made using the Gifkins jig. Hardware is quadrant hinges from Wood n Workshop (forum sponsor).
The box on the left is Kwila with a Red Mahogony lid, the box in the middle is camphor laurel and the box on the right is New Guinea Rosewood. Finish is oil plus wax. I know Kwila is not usually associated with boxes, but I had some and was looking to experiment ...
The longest part of the making process was rebuilding (and improving), my router table, making a set of drawers to house the router bits and experimenting with jigs to cut the feet and hinge mortises... Sometimes making the boxes is the easy bit, staying on the one project the hard bit !
Made a few mistakes along the way, but still happy with the results.
Comments welcome.
Regards

Nice looking boxes. well done. The Gifkins jig sure does a nice job. I must admit I do tend to stray off a bit when making stuff..
Reality is no background music.
