    Default Triton Router 1400w or 2400w ?

Have just purchased Roger Gifkin jig. A10 and finger templates. I am in the process of building a table but only have older Makita fixed base style router. Looking to purchase Triton Router to make life easy. My question is, do i need the bigger unit if only using the smaller bits?

    Regards Roger

the 1400 is all i need
i make guitars so the bits are small - mostly straight cutters up to
    3/4"

if you were going to use bigger bits like ogees/panel raisers etc the bigger machine is the way to go - i dont think the big one comes with a 1/4" collet insert

the 1400 would be a better bet for hand held work

If you're very lucky, you might find the 1400W at Bunnings for $99. Have a look in the Triton section of this forum for details.

    Default Triton

Thanks for all the advise. I had noted some lucky wood workers had a win at Bunnings. Lucky for me I am a commercial traveller . I intend checking all Bunnings stores from Rockhampton to Forster!

One of the very big advantages of the smaller Triton is that at an additional cost you can add an above table micro winder. I can tell you from experience that this is terrific

I have tried Bunnings stores all over greater Brisbane area looking for 1400w model to no avail. All sold out. Only 2400w model in stock @ $380.00. even tried Bunnings in Grafton last week!!......
Thanks for heads up on micro winder....will keep looking for smaller model.

    Cheers

The big one does have a half inch collet but a 1/4" reducing collet is supplied with it.
    Reality is no background music.
