I had the same problem with Wipe On Poly, both the satin and the gloss. It went off very quickly after being opened.

One tip I read somewhere is to store the bottle upside down (ie. resting on the cap). The finish usually skins or solidifies when in contact with air, which will now be at the base of the bottle (top in the upside down position). This way the stuff you pour out will always be fresh.

Another tip when buying finishing product in larger quantities is to pour it into a number of smaller containers (small medicine/vitamin bottles are great). Fill the smaller bottles right to the top, leaving an absolute minimum of air in the bottle. Use product from the smaller bottles as required. This way the whole quantity doesn't go off at one time. Some finishes may be affected by light as well so use opaque bottles or store in a dark place.

Rabster, I use the squeezy tomato sauce bottles (also BBQ sauce) they are the conical ones with the twisty tops.

    They are excellent.

Just squeeze until the material comes out the top and close it off. No air!

    Also excellent for dispensing.
