Wedding present
I made this box as a wedding present for my nephew, it's the second box I've made, it is not perfect but my nephew and his new wife were near to tears when they unwrapped it, (plus they live 440 miles away from us, and it was a long drive!).
I explained to them that the box was locked and that I would post them the key to the lock, which they will recieve on there first wedding anniversary, inside I have put a wedding anniversary card as your first anniversary is paper.
The box is Oak, finished with several coats of Briwax Dark Oak wax on top of two coats of shellac.

As you said it may not be perfect but really it has come from you and from the heart. This is the gift that is perfect. Very uplifting story.
Well done on the box.Last edited by Christos; 15th May 2014 at 08:27 AM. Reason: Completely forgot to comment on the box

Those long mitres on the lid look pretty perfect to me! 440 miles in the UK? Is it you or they who live in the sea? How far is a mile anyway?

Thanks for your kind comments guys, aldav we both live near the sea, we live in the Northeast of England, they live in the Southwest, a mile isn't very far however when your driving 440 miles it is very far, took us well over 8 hours because of roadworks and several stops (I have spinal problems so we had to keep stopping so I could walk around), but the journey was well worth it.
