Wonderful choice of timbers and a rather excellent finish. Lacquer?
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

I normaly use lacquer but thought I'd give Scandinavian Oil a try . Put on several coats to fill the grain then sanded it back and buffed up to a nice shine.

I noticed the well executed mitre joints. Did you glue them or did you use any other type of reinforcement?

For these boxes the strength comes from good quality glue , Titebond III , but mostly from gluing in the base and top in a rebate . One of the many advantages of using veneered panels , I would not recommend gluing in place solid timber though .
