What would you do?
I am just after opinions on how people go about fitting dividers in boxes or the trays. I have been making a box which I wanted to divide up into smaller compartments.
I made a frame to fit inside the box and then proceeded to cut rebates for the dividers. I used the tablesaw to cut a small rebate for each of the dividers to locate in. As my blade is an ATB pattern I was left with a vee projecting up in the rebate. I used a mini router plane to remove the vee to get a flat bottom. This seemed a pretty tedious task and I was wondering what others do to install their inserts.
I did see the jig that Pauls321 made for his rebates but until I look at having a go at one I was seeking other methods.

HI Dallas,
Pretty tricky doing that. The only other two ways I would use is with my table saw (moving the fence after each pass slightly), or with my home made router table and a fence. But trying to cut/router cuts a fair way from your blade or router bit is a bit tricky also on a narrow piece of timber. You need a nice 90 degree piece of timber up against your fence and push that through also holding onto your main piece and keeping that main piece pushed down.

Cut halfway thru each piece, such as you would do for a 'half lap' joint. Make your divider material the same size as your saw blade. Slide together, call it done.

The dividers are only 3.2mm thick so they fit reasonably well in the rebates I cut with the saw blade. I do have another blade with flat top teeth that is about 3mm wide (an old blade reground).
To cut the rebates I used an Incra mitre gauge where I was able to slide the fence up very close to the blade so the timber was well supported and not hanging out in mid air. I used the flip stop to do repetitive cuts in the same position so the dividers lined up from front to back.
