Well this is my first time here but I hope it's not my last I have just been given a new 12" router jig ,its a leigh brand but the 2 routers I have one is a Rhino and the other is a GMC 1/2" but the bush does not fit either . I have a retired builder showed me a set of bushers he has had for some time but can't remember just where he got it from , its a 10 piece brass router bushing guide kit set my question can someone tell me where in Australia I can buy such a kit ,as I 'am new to this type of work but keen to learn as much as I can. G'day Peter & welcome!
What you need is a SPECIFIC guide bush for your router to use with your Leigh jig, these bushes are made by Leigh & no one else.

Peter
The Brass Template guide that come in a pack similar to what you mention unfortunately do not come with a 40mm or 30mm template guide. The largest one supplied in the kit will limit what can be achieved with the router as they will restrict the use of a large number of cutters.
You certainly will have to purchase the Leigh Jig template guides for your JigLearn new Routing skills with the use of the template guides

...further enquiry...
Hi.
I have read that 'off set rings' are available to use with guide bushing sets, but I cannot find one listed anywhere.
Basically they look like stop collars, or like the removable part/collar on inlay kits, and need to be as thick as the router bit in use. They have small grub screws to fasten them to the guide bushing.
Can anyone tell me what they're called and where I might buy them?
Thanks,
Rob

Hi John.
What I'm after is a part similar to the collar but which is used over guide bushings and like the collar in the picture is the same size as the bit used.
But you have one for each size bit & guide bushing that's used...and it's made fast by a small grub screw.
It accomplishes the same thing as the inlay set, but can be used with any sized bit . ..well of the same diameter. I've seen a picture of one in a german mag but don't know what it's called & I can't find them on the web.

I would have thought that the number of permutations would be too large to make it viable to make a kit.
The inlay kits use a 1/8" bit as they are designed for cutting inlays in veneers and the small guide bush can follow intricate templates.
For a one-off project, I turned a collar from a piece of plastic chopping board, but the diameter of the collar needs to be exactly the diameter of the bit, otherwise the fit is not good enough.John

..yes I agree about the permutations etc..I figured I'd use one bit & one guide bush exclusively & get the appropriate sized offset ring.
As it happens with the bits I have & a 'standard' set of guide bushes I figured I can put together two combinations of Bits & bushes that will work.
Much easier to buy the do-dad
Regards,
Rob.

What hasn't been mentioned is, does he have a router base plate that will accept the guide bushings? The most common is the Porter-Cable style bushings that will work with almost any DT jig. Even if he has to use a dedicated Leigh bushing he would still have to have the proper base plate to accept the bushings.
