OK I'll keep that in mind when mounting the router.

However having never seen one of these in the flesh, was wondering router bit height to what reference on the table , ie table wound up/down, and end of router to table etc. Just a rough idea so i'm somewhere in the ballpark.
The attachment itself has a fair range of rise and fall so I would suggest that when wound up to its maximum height The smallest cutters bottom edge would be just a few millimetres off the bed of the sliding table.

"You didn't order the 8mm bit with the collet adaptor."

My router is only 6 and 8mm with respective collets.

"I assume you couldn't PM me because you haven't been a member long enough."

I didn't try, I just saw that you had good ratings, good prices and seemed to know what you're talking about.

Ah thanks Mark, that's just what I needed to know.

I see in one of your photo's you have a plate of MDF or ply. Do you recommend I do this?

Anyone consider using template guides when constructing a suitable Jig to produce Tenons and Mortices?IMG_0988 s.jpg4 Tenons y 3.JPGTripple Tenons take it up a notch.jpg

Firstly to everyone on this forum - an apology for asking a question and then seemingly not replying. I have had exactly ZERO email notifications of any comments whatsoever so I'm here for the first time today after another member contacted me privately with his video of the router mortise jig he built (brilliant by the way - here's the link to Tony's videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-MLKaRG5yM).

So Lappa - that looks like a really easy to build little jig. Do you have any info on the build?

Thanks Chief. Very helpful information. I'm building a solid timber kitchen - myrtle with black heart sassafras drawer fronts. I want to use traditional joinery but with modern design features so externally it looks like something that has always been in my old mountain cottage in the Tassie highlands, but functions like a 21st century kitchen. Basically I'll be investing a lot in timber and so I want this kitchen to at least 50 years (or past my use-by - whichever).

I've been given a really solid drill press by a guy who is a retired cabinet maker/builder. On the basis of what you have said I'd be prepared to give it a go with a moritsing attachment. Thanks

Yep, have a great router table and buzzer/thicknesser. I hadn't considered loose tenons, but it may be the way to go for my kitchen build.

I have used a hollow chisel mortiser and loved using it. I've looked into buying one, but seriously, with all the gear I have I'm thinking a chisel mortiser might be a bit over indulgent. I have 3 routers - a huge, heavy duty makita, an in-betweeny Dewalt and a gorgeous little trim router so I should put them to use making mortises.

Nice, both the bedhead and the mortiser!

David, you have sold me on making my own router jig. With all the info everyone has generously given here I'm pretty sure I'll find the right type of design or at least the inspiration to come up with my own. I don't get very excited about this kind of "engineering" in general, but your enthusiasm makes me think it will be worth it.
