Default Finish for fence pailing coffee table.

    Hi guys.

I spent the weekend making a coffee table out of fence pailings (picture attached) and I'm torn between giving it an oil finish or a Matt lacquer finish.

Any thoughts, given its a coffee table that will have things placed on top of it?

    Thanks.

Oil based satin polyurethane. Tough and long lasting.

I like the look of the table and I think that a matt finish would maintain it character. I am thinking that a poly based finish would be best.
