Question Need help-Removing bubbles from Envirotex

    Hi,

I have used Envirtex on Merbu. Im having problems. Client want a extra coat. Sanded lightly. Dust from the sanding went into the bubbles.

What is the best way to remove the spot from the bubble and finish the job?

Before using Envirotec, or any other resin type finish, you should seal the timber first with a compatible sealer/varnish. That will stop the bubbles coming from the timber from the finish seeping in. Any other bubbles that from mixing/reaction can be removed with a flame (I use small blow torch) or blowing on them through a straw (just make sure no saliva gets on your work) before the finish sets.

With the holes you have, you can drill or cut them out and recast, or try polishing them out. Just depends on how thick you want the coating. As long as the finish is completely hard (ie allow at least a week or more – some finishes stay relatively soft for up to a month) it can be cut and polished. Don’t use a wax finish if you are going to recoat, only on the finished surface.<O</O

    Cheers

Like said - Compressed air, but if thats not 100% successful you can try wiping with the likes of prepsol or equivilant.....Usually the prepsol turns the white powder clear but the powder may then return to white once the prepsol drys, even if this is the case you shouldn't have a problem when applying your next coat as the envirotex will (or should) also turn the powder clear but won't (or most likly wont) allow the powder to go white again, but test on an unseen surface or scrap piece..ALWAYS TEST FIRST....its like the old woodwork saying of measure twice.......Not that that always works either

But if you can get it out with air, thats your best bet.....

    Cheers...
