    Default Jarrah desk finish

    Hey guys,

I've been looking around on the forum looking for the best type of finish to put on a Jarrah Veener desk and couldn't find anything exact.

I'm currently doing my last VCE woodwork project making a corner desk for my computer out of Jarrah veneered MDF, here is a picture of the first module of the desk (top part still needs to be edged! and handles for the drawers still need to be put on):

What finish would you guys recommend for the desk? Taking into account that it will be used every day and having laptops and the computer hardware on it (that sometimes get quite hot) being moved around so the desk will get quite a beating.

    Thanks in advance!

    hey Pommy

I find that for tabletops you need a finish that is going to stand up to regular usage. I have been using Feast and Watson floor seal on table tops and it comes up a treat. zzUsually rub wax into the final coat using steel wool and then buff it off. I suggest that you try it on a scrap piece of timber first. as for the rest of the table I either use Livos Kunos oil or Wiping varnish

    cheers
