Poly over danish oil
Hi. I have an item finished in Organoil Danish Oil. The finish is not suitable - so I'd like to recoat it with Minwax WOP. Can this be done?
I can sand some of it back to timber, but not most of it.
cheersApologies for unnoticed autocomplete errors.

I use a very similar finish on most of my finer pieces, usually I would sand down to 380grit than use danish oil for one coat to bring out the wood to life and make things like ray flakes become more vibrant, followed by a spray on poly for about 4-5 coats.
I dont see why a wipe on polly would produce a different result.

Poly wipe on over danish oil
I think Jord is right. I can't see why those two finishes wouldn't be compatible providing the wipe on is spirit based. How about you try a sample section in a less visible or invisible area of the job or actually create a sample board specifically to test the theory into practice. That's always the best way to go.

Try it on a piece of scrap first.
I suspect it won't go... Organoil has a nasty habit of "seeping out" if not applied 100% according to mfrs specs. From past complaints, it seems that a helluva lot of people have problems following the directions on the can.
Even if it appears to work nicely straight off the bat, there's a chance that a week, or a month, or even a year down the track it'll all go pear-shaped.
