    Default Prepsol or the like

    I was introduced to prepsol when I did my TAFE course restoring my community project, a 1974 Dodge ambulance... but another story

    The TAFE guys swear by this stuff, they even use it to clean the BBQ after a cookup!!!!!
    now my question is, I put timber edges around the top of my kitchen (if that makes sense) and didnt seal it straight away (discussions about colour from SHMBO) and now have oil and grease in the timber, I was gunna clean it off with steel wool and metho, but thought prepsol or the like might be better and faster, is it safe on timber and has anyone had a past eperience with the stuff?

    Question

    From memory, prepsol is am acitone based product :confused: I dont see why you could not use it on the timber.. I have seen it used in the auto industry to remove grease and oil from metal panels.

    The best bet would be to try it on a section that is not too noticable (if the is such a spot) and wear the appropriate protection for your eyes and hands, and possably follow it with a wash off with warm soapy water.

    Just thought of something else.. have you thought about using "sugar soap"? I used to use it in the painting game to clean/degrease surfaces prior to painting. it is cheaper than prepsol.
    I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it
