Default Just want to show you my recycled coffee table

Man was throwing this out so I asked him if I could have it.
Was an old filing cabinet from either doctors or police station (skinny drawers).
Had water damage down the bottom and was rotting.
So I took off the top half (which was not damaged), stained it a walnut colour, put on some cast iron castors and now it's a coffee table!

I like the fact that I saved something (well some of it) from the tip.

And plenty of storage for the remotes, cup coasters and other things that always clog up coffee tables.

    Nice job.

    Hi Vegimitegirl,

What they all said. Great save and an all wood. Terrific.

I like those cast iron castors, very Retro and suit the the piece. Can you tell us where you picked them up from?

That is one big backyard you have there!

    Cheers

The castors are actually from bunnings and only $3.50 each and cast iron! I was surprised at how cheap they were. I would have liked to put on bigger ones but the next size up jumped in price (around $13 each) and I thought I'll just stick with the cheapies.

When I asked the guy if I could have the filing cabinet he said he was hoping someone would take it because he was scared it would go over the size limit for hard rubbish pick up. LOL

Oh and pops the back yard is a curse! LOL It's a rental, if I owned this place I would be getting a bob cat and tearing out the grass! I've never know grass like it, it even tries to creep into the house!

    Hi Vegimitegirl,

Thanks for that, will have to check Bunnings out, last time I went looking for cast iron wheels nobody had them, apart from 6 inch ones.

So you have Triffid grass? Have similar stuff trying to get into my shed, am sure that if I sat still long enough it would strangle me.

    Cheers
