    Angry Repairing polyurethane finish

I have a recycled hardwood (eucy) coffee table that my son has just placed a very hot plate on, making a 12" diameter mark in the polyurethane finish. Any magic cures or do I have to strip the entire table and refinish? It has not bubbled or burnt, just turned the finish an opaque white.

You only need to strip the top and refinish it.

    Concur.

Satin (or a lesser gloss) poly is good for tables with a lot of wear -sand either with the grain or use a good multilsander such as Festool Rotex type. Don't do this until cooler weather - meaning less then 25 degrees or so.
