    Default Fixing pre "bible" mistakes

Time to tap into the brain bank (again). I have some old pieces of work that I finished before I read the bible (thanks Neil, you nomination for Pulitzer prize is being worked on) and I now hate the look of them.

I haven't changed my sanding process cause that was right but am now using the Ubeaut products. Previously they were done using linseed oil under a wax finish (wax being home made but predominantly bees wax) but that looks poor.

What I need to know is if it is possible to save these pieces and start again. Can I just sand off the wax and start again or will the oil kill the shellac?? Or can I use the reviver or is there another method. Any advice other than combustion will be considered!!!

Wash the surface with copius amounts of mineral turps and lots of clean rags to suck up all the wax and maybe a little of the oil.

Make sure the surface is completely dry then apply the shellac as per usual. Shellac is pretty amazing stuff. It will go over almost anything and stick like s@#t to a blanket.

Linseed is often used as a traditional base under shellac.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers - Neil

Oh great one I am offended. That you could imagine for a minute that any utterance you made could be anything less than a pearl of wisdom is insulting. Of course this advice is "helpful" and is accepted on bended knee with eyes averted from your radiance of brilliance

It's alright Shane - gods speak to each other like that 'south of the border'.
