Have to admit I've never even tried to use it over resin. However there is no reason why it shouldn't work and work well.

The rest of the box should be excellent and I presume the resin portion would be the same. However if you aren't sure I would be trying it over a test piece of resin in wood before jumping in boots and all.

My main worry would be that the first coat will sink into the pores of the wood as may the 2nd and 3rd, until the pores are filled and you get your first surface coat. This may well make the resin bit have 3 surface coats before the rest of the box gets to its first one.

It's hard to get an even finish over a mix of different media. For mine I would like to get the first few coats onto an itim like this prior to doing the resin bit. Then you would probably get a way more even finish. There's no reason why the resin wouldn't work after the shellac applications.

I have taken delivery of the shellac and AAA and started the process but I have a few questions, I haven't used shellac for some years dewaxed white never before. I seem to recall a note with the order that it was a heavy? mix and may require some thinning I have gone through the packing and the invoice and can't find anything so maybe I am dreaming. It does seem to start drying on the timber and goes thick and sticky, I am putting it on with a pad not a brush and trying to put on thin coats but it seems to stick to the pad as soon as it touches the wood. On the panel with the resin feature it is reacting differently in some spots not penetrating the timber evenly I have sanded it back lightly and given it a second coat it does seem to be bit more even should I repeat this a couple of times to build up the shellac before I use the AAA polish? On the carved Huon panel it has had 3 cotes but not the AAA and seems OK, I tried it on some spotty and it is looking good. Should I just carry on and build up the shellac sand and use the AAA to finish.

I've always cut ubeaut white shellac about 50/50 with the premix and 100% methylated spirits. I brush it on for smaller projects, works well and only takes 2-3 coats.

I'm not going to advice on padding it on because I've tried it once and realised I need a lot more practice.
