Cheers Sturdee for the kind donation. | It's used for cutting/marking thin timbers and has a sharp blade and an adjustable guide to keep the cut straight and true. Cabinet makers used to use them but not so much today but a beautiful tool and it is certainly a treasure and one for the collection if not to use. Very generous of Peter (Sturdee) to donate such a prize.

Cheers Sturdee for the kind donation. | It's a panel marking gauge used by the original darksiders to mark out larger panels. Similar to the normal marking gauge but designed for larger pieces.
The handle with the marking gauge is fixed and the other side, held against the edge of the panel, can be set to the distance to be marked out.
My understanding is that it was made about 1930 and for most of its life it's been hanging on the wall of the original owner and I bought it from him in a garage sale. Made a copy for myself and have never used either in anger as I have a good table saw. BTW Robbo if I'm lucky enough to win my own prize I'll give it to you.
