Put the overhead router build on the back-burner for the time being, I don't have a table saw and making what needs to be an accurate set up will be too difficult without one.
Given I have never put this much effort into a thread I want to finish it, so I will carve the back of a neck old school.
At this point I have trimmed the fretboard overhang with a bandsaw and then cleaned it up on the router table.

I have a jig to hold the neck that doesn't need clamps that interfere with working on the neck while its in place. Its basically a board 50 x 200 x 600 with a bolt in one end that a tuner hole sits over, the but end is held with a clamp put on sideways.
I use the "facet method" for marking out where I need to remove timber to give me a circular shape.

I use a combination of rasps, files, and sandpaper to do the work.It usually takes a few hours to do this, and my results vary( which I'm not happy about),its one of the reasons I want to try using a router.

In the pic above I have carved a flat plane between the offset line on the top of the neck, down to a line that runs about 5 mm below the bottom of the fretboard, on both sides.
Then I have drawn another line half way between the centerline and the line drawn down near the fretboard, so the next place to carve a plane will be between these two lines.
I haven't done a great job of explaining this, if you want to have a go this and get stuck, post where you are at and I will go into more detail.
