Hey Guys
My name is Joeyslickback and I build Cajons. The cajon (ka-Hone) is like a mini drum kit in box. The instrument originates from african slaves in peru. The slaves were not allowed to play music and so had to make an instrument not look like an instrument. Thus the cajon just looks like a six sided box and has been the most widely used afro-peruvian instrument since the late 18th century. In recent years the cajons popularity has really increased due to it's versatility and portability. For me it's the GO-TO percussion instrument for jamming and acoustic sets. The storebought ones are really laking so I started making my own and have fallen in love with woodworking in the process.
I am going to post pictures of the cajons I build aswell as a few short videos of them in action. I encourage others to do the same or ask questions about the process.
