G'day Mick. Love the Rudd impersonation .
I haven't sprayed Acrylic Lacquer via a compressor gun before, only pressure packs. I have buffed out a finish after as little as 3 days with this stuff and no adverse issues. No problem in spraying direct on to bare timber, that is exactly what I do. Spray a couple of light "sealer" coats, let dry 24 hours then rub back..........does take time to get a build happening (more time than NC) so this one will take a me a while as I have NOT grainfilled. Cheers, Jon.

Thanks Jon, appreciate your reply. I think I'll give it try on some scrap wood before committing.

OK, starting to get a bit of depth to the finish now........
I have now decided to lash out on a set of Brierley pups for this build which I am really excited about. I have chosen a Hot Alnico 5 for the bridge wound to around 12.0k and a Modern Vintage Alnico 2 for the neck wound to around 7.4k. Will be running 500k pots.......this babies gonna sing

Great looking bit of blackwood there, mate.
You'll love the Brierleys when you slot them in. I doubt you'll ever swap them for anything else ever again !!

Hey Everyone,
Apologies for lack of updates over past 2 weeks. I have been painting, rubbing back, allowing to dry, painting, rubbing back, allowing to dry etc and I reckon I've now nailed the final coats. It's now hanging in my office above an oil column heater (on low) 24 hrs a day as it's been pretty chilly up here recently. It will stay like that until this weekend when I will buff and then fit out. Brierley's humbuckers have now arrived (awesome service MickB!) and I can't wait to hear these custom Aussie tones
I have also started 2 new builds which I will start a new thread for. Both double cut trem builds, different tonewoods etc.....stay tuned.
Here's a few pics of how the Conjurer is looking at the moment, prior to buff. Cheers, Jon.

Hey All,
The Conjurer is all but finished now with only the strap buttons and control cavity cover (install jobs) to be done. Mick B pups absolutely rock n roll in this build. I jammed with it last night and the cleans are amazingly articulate and the dirt is sweet as sweet can be . Here are some initial photos with more to come over next few days to close out the thread. Thanks again to everyone who has come along for the ride on this build journey, it's been fun . Jon

I can imagine it on a dark stage with the spots on it, it will mess with their heads!

Wow, mate. This has come out a knockout build.
Blackwood jumps out and the close ups certainly show your high attention to detail.
Can't wait to hear the Brierley pups roar in this one.
Chrome hardware suit it perfectly, as does the truss rod cover. Classy touch.

That's a mighty fine looking piece of craftsmanship. I love the blackwood - meaty character if you know what I mean!
Please pardon my ignorance, just a quick question, why do you use string ferrules? Is it for the look, or cost compared to using a stop tailpiece or is there some other advantage?
Killer looking guitar Jon.
