Firecaster/Telebird build
Hi all,
It's been a bit quiet here lately so I thought I'd liven things up with a progress thread for my latest build
Bit of an odd one, it's sort of a hybrid of a telecaster and a firebird, with a firebird body and a tele style neck.
Timbers:
- Body: Qld maple
- Neck: Wenge
- Fingerboard: Macassar ebony
- Headstock faceplates: flame maple
Hardware will be standard chrome, with the bridge being the tele style with humbucker mounting. The pickups will be a humbucker in the bridge and P90 in the neck, standard firebird vol/tone for each pickup.

The body has been mostly roughed out, bit of contouring still to do but that shouldn't take too long now. Neck blank is also scarf jointed and planed, ready to start work. The wenge is a beautiful looking timber, but I am definitely not keen on how it blunts my plane blades
Also came up with an interesting pickguard design that incorporates the style of both guitars too:

This will likely be a fairly slow process due to my aversion to power tools (or lack of power tools really ), but I hope to make an update at least once a week on this.
Thanks for looking

Strange, I don't know what happened there. Here's the timbers as they are so far:

Hoping to get some more work done on it this weekend, the building itch is starting to get the better of me

Sorry for the lack of updates everyone, things have been a bit busy so work is slow.
Nothing worthy of pictures done yet, but the truss rod channel has been routed along with some more body contouring, and I'm currently in the middle of filing the nut slot. Neck should be glued up and ready for carving by the end of the week if all goes well.
