    Default Laminate Trimmer

    Hi.

I have a router & rotary tool & StewMac base and have blundered along so far...so good...

I keep seeing laminate trimmers mentioned in various fora..

Where in the process of building yer basic electric guitar ...eg a LP or tele...would the use of a laminate trimmer be of advantage over the use of either of the other two?

I hope that's not too dumb a question..

Yeh i work my lami to the bone, there so much easier to control and handle than a large sucker, just take it steady and dont try and push it too hard. The biggy rat stays attached to the table.

Good quality laminate trimmers are expensive, but if you can afford one the are a very handy and effective tool because they are lite and easy to operate and they can be adapted to many jigs with little fuss, whereas a router often requires more effort.

I've had to make up several jigs to accommodate my routers to do fiddley little jobs and it can be a royal pane in the butt.

A laminate trimmer aswell as a router would be handy .

    I wish I had a laminate trimmer .

    regards to all

I run a few makita lammers and quite a few makita routers as well. 6 all up.

The big win was buying a cheaper maktec lammer and finding it works identical in every way to my more expensive cast bodied makita's. only $149 for the maktec. perfect.

That is indeed a great score. Let me be the first to say "you suck!"

Three #5's, a slab of maple and a trimmer for under $70 has got to be right 'up there' in the garage sale gloats.

jeez i wish that was the case haha...
but naa, i paid 65 for the trimmer and 65 for the three planes and maple lol

still not bad as far as im concerned

    but somewhat back on topic....

who here is using the dremel router base from stewmac?
i got me a dremel lastweek and im contemplating: making a base, buying a flex shaft and making a base for that, or buying the stew mac base.....

also what bits are we using for inlays?
