Looking for Local Luthier/Guitar Builder
I am looking for one of you guitar builders out there, preferably on the Eastern seaboard.
About 6 months ago I went and bought myself some nice wood for an acoustic guitar, and started to create molds etc to do it. However I only got as far as the molds, but have always envisioned finishing it.
However recently I have gotten a new job interstate, currently live in Brisbane and am moving to Canberra. And I don't think it will be quite a while until I have a set up where I can make a guitar (currently live at home with my parents so can make use of all of my fathers tools etc.)
I was just wondering if any of you experience acoustic builders out there would be interested in making the guitar for me? And wondering how much you would charge if you were to.
I have a lovely Blackheart Sassafrass back and side sets with a sitka spruce top, blackwood neck and Jarrah fetboard and bridge. I do not have any bracing wood, purfling or kerfed binding etc, or the bridge pins tunning pegs and fretwire.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

Nice guitars there Jeff, Sassafras looks great on that accoustic. Also noticed red cedar on a classical neck, how did that go ? and do you think it would be to light for a steel string? Rob.

Thanks Rob
The Red cedar has worked fine on the Classical and Flamenco.
The flamenco is a real lightweight coming in at 1100grams
Both are showing minimal relief 8 months after stringing up
I carefully selected the red cedar for these though and I would not use it on a steel string, too much string tension.

Sure Bob, though I reckon your ribs might be better marinated and barbequed
Cheers
