NSW Electric Timbers
Hi all,
I'm curious as to what timbers that are readily available in NSW are suitable to use for body wood in solid or chambered electrics? I'm aware of the usual varieties used for electric bodies, but I'd like to try for something a bit more local
Cheers

I suppose that if you want "readily available" Tassie Oak (Eucalyptus regnans, obliqua) is always a option and is a easy bit of wood to find.

Rosewood, bunya pine, you could try coachwood, but don't know where you'd get the size, dense dark red cedar, not the pale stuff, camphor may work? rose gum (flooded gum),

Why not do one from a burl, Red/blue gum or one of the yellow/white eucalypts. There not that hard to get and can look good.
cheers

Nice idea with the burl Steve, but I've already ordered myself a good looking blackwood top for it. Just looking for something a bit more plain but with a nice colouring to it to use for the main part of the body.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I particularly like the idea of the coachwood and the gum varieties. I'll have to take a look around at the local suppliers
