Default Post Pictures of your FIRST build

I thought this might be fun.

Anyone that wants to can post pictures of their FIRST ever musical instrument they built from scratch or in part.

Lets keep it 3-4 pics at most per post.

Remember that this is not a competition. I want to see the god, the bad, and the ugly

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Default Peter's first gat

    Here is mine,

    It is
braziliam mahogany body and neck with a flamed maple drop top.
fretboard is amazon rosewood 25 inch scale length
bridge is a gotoh wrap around
pickups are duncan custom custom in bridge and 59 in the neck.
The back is carved, and I wanted to do it as a practise for a carved top.

Look forward to seeing what other people have done

    Cheers,

    Peter

as i posted in my thread.... i found my first build a few weeks ago in the roof space of my shed...

its nothing compared to yours peter!! lol

but i did do it a long time ago.... long before there was any of these forums, before i had any books on the subject, and before custom guitars became a trend

i traced an lp jr off my computer screen and cut it out by hand!

just a solid tassie oak body, had a classical fingerboard on it

andd the bridge was the same as peters, gotoh i think it was.... cost me a good 100 or 120 or so at the time .... i later sold it with a different guitar...
it had a hardtail and a tomon it also at different stages... plugged and redrilled the holes a fair few times lol

it had a vintage p90 in it with a dog ear cover

cavities all done with a chiesel

and one more, my thoughts on my first ever build

Well the first pic is of the very first musical instrument I made (you stick your two fingers in your mouth & then practice till you can get a musical note LOL

The second pic is of a banjo I resurected I bought it cheap it was stuffed. I coverted it to nylon as I reckon that half of the original neck damage was done because there is no truss rod in it.

    Oh BTW it sounds great.

ok well i'm gonna post 2 guitars!

the first is very technically my first which my dad helped me built wen i was bout 16!
but mostly my dads help! an the death of a poor samick that had its parts stripped an its fretboard saw off for a lack of a better idea!! haha once it was strung up i had to tighten the truss rod so much to get the neck straight that the fret board popped off! haha

the second you've prob all seen which i claim as my true first as i had no help an no cheating! but a couple of pics anyway

Ok, here's a couple of firsts, the Tele is two piece Alder body, rock maple neck, Indian Rosewood FB, Seymour Duncan VIntage 54 pups.

The amp is based on the P1 Schematic at ax84.com and cabinet is knocked up from some scrap Oregon, some left over shade cloth and has a vintage Aussie MSP speaker (actually looks a lot cooler out of the harsh light of day).

    Hi Guys

Sorry to intrude. With the aim of keeping this thread alive for the future, would you please attach your beautiful pictures rather than link to offsite websites?

Websites come and go and if the pictures are linked from a website that goes, they disappear from here as well, which is a shame.

To attach a picture, please refer to this Sticky Note - Posting Pictures to your Post, which details the steps. The link still says you can attach an image from on offsite source, but we are finding this sometimes tends to make the pictures too large to view comfortably, so I'd appreciate it if you used the other method.

Any questions? just ask me or any other Moderator or Admin.

    Thanks
    Wendy

As Wendy said, there are archives that are useful to search.

Irish, no we dont like Rosewood here. Best thing to do is ship direct to me. PM me for the mailing address. Its a pity your photo is blurred, that looks like a nice piece of kit.

My humble first, mando, King Billy Pine top, Mahogony B&S & neck, I dont have any finished photos, oops
