Love that Action shot of you spraying. The wet spray makes the wood figure jump out and sing. I hope is sound as good as it looks.

Hey guys,
I'm slowly getting there. Stu's been helping out a heap, teaching me how to spray.
Here are a few pics, up to 6 Nitro coats, and three blond shellac coats.

Hey guys,
A bit of an update, exactly the same as AGGH post.
So I went over to Stu's, and we applied the decal, sanded back the body with 400 and 600 grit, and sprayed the head stock.
A few days to cure, and a few coats of Nitro later:
Another few.
Back of the Headstock blocked back.
Body sanded
Decal: I decided to choose the Gold/black one. It should look shweet with Gold hard ware.
Nearly there:
Done
The decal is .4mm thick, so the Nitro should make it look 3D. It should raise a tad out of the paint.
Cheers dudes,

I put the last coats on this a week ago.
I'll let it sit for another week and a half and then buff her up to a nice gloss.
Just in time for Deano to get back from Overseas and hastily assemble it
for his VCE assessment. He should be fairly happy.
Cheers, Stu

I have to say, the guitar is look bloody fantastic. That finish is coming along really nicely. Could we get some details on how it has been finished?
What's happened to Deano and his guitar though? Is he back from O/S yet? The thread has been very quiet lately. We're all waiting for the latest update and pix...

O.K. I.ll set the scene.
Wet-sanded and buffed last week, final buff and polish on Sunday.
Picked up and whisked away on Monday night, and awaiting Deano's arrival from abroad on Tuesday night.
I'll leave the rest up to Deano. After-all it is his baby !!!!
(P.S. He sent me a few pics today )
cheers, Stu

Wow, it looks a million bucks Dean! If it only sounds half as good as it looks, then you have yourself one amazing sounding guitar I'm sure.
Love the high gloss finish. I'm usually a fan of flat (oil) on natural finishes, but this really looks good!
Really well done mate, you are going to ACE that VCE CAT (or whatever they call it this year).
By the way, what guage are those strings on there. Looks pretty beefy from the photos.

Congratulations on the completion of this amazing build.
You should be proud of what you've achieved and also what you have learnt in the process. . I'm sure it's spurned you forward to try new things.
Now back to the build.........
You mentioned you used humbuckers made by Mike Brierley (aussie).
Howsabout a bit of info about him, his pickups and what you've experienced so far with the ones you got made for this build.
I and alot of others would love to hear about aussie made pickups
as I'd like to give him a go with a few orders if all is good.
Also if you've found him to be great, let Ray know so we can add
him to the supplier listings for all us oz builders.

Hey guys,
I found Mick when I read all his reviews on AGGH. When I started building this guitar from all Aussie timbers, I knew I had to use Aussie made pickups. And it was worth it.
At the moment my guitar is set up with a volume, tone and pickup switch, and has been wired to accept coil splitting. My band play’s pretty heavy music, but have a lot of clean sections. The neck pickup I use for all clean, and it sounds great. Work’s very well for jazz, blues, crisp clean solos and heavy riffs full of bass. The Bridge pickup on the other hand suits distortion a lot better! It’s not in your face, or ear piercing, it’s just perfect! I am thrilled with the quality of these pups.
Mickb makes some of the hottest pickups around and for really good prices, considering they are quality Australian made gear. I'm not too sure how he operates, if it’s a business or a hobby.
I don't know much about pickups, but from working in a music shop I know what sounds good. So I told Mick the music I played, and how versatile these pickups needed to be, so he recommended "around 12-13k for bridge with A5 mag , and around 7.5 ish for neck , and an A3 in the neck as it suits that position" (To be honest I don't know what that means) So I agreed.
I honestly don't know much about Mick and you can’t find any info about him on the net! A few things I do know:
- Mickb is a top bloke!
- Is known for his amazing tele pickups!
- He has a waiting list!
- He is quick!
- If you don't like the pups, you send them back.
So before you guys go rushing out to buy Duncan's, or any other name brand pickups think twice. Because it costs the same/ cheaper to buy Aussie made. And it's worth it!
Any thing else you need to know just shout!

ive been making my own pups, and hes on another forum i use to get advice about pups. he seems to be a great guy. was possibly going to buy some pup parts from him but have been making my own bobins and such from wood to get them suiting the guitar they are on (lookwise, havent heard them yet as the guitar/ bass are not finished). ive also found that there is a magnet sales place relatively nearby that have alnico rod magnets that are suitable for pups.
