He certainly was one of the best when it came to Guitar work whether playing or making as the first solid electric guitars I believe.
Only occasionally someone of his stature comes along to leave a mark on the world ...the worlds a sadder place now with his passing, but at 94yrs that had to have been worthy of him seeing the fruits of his labour all those years back
RIP Les

It seems to me that Les Paul is playing with a broken string in the 3rd video. Amazing. When I break a string it is all over.

R.I.P- Mr. Les Paul. The legend never dies. Lets not forget he invented Multi-Track recording as well...!!!!
It would be interesting though to put a top ten most influential guitarists together and see how many of them play or played a Les Paul. Not something I've thought about til now....!!!Last edited by GhostGuitarist; 15th August 2009 at 03:25 AM. Reason: more info......

Not a player myself but remember Les paul, Chet Atkins, Al Caiola, Tom Schwarzel ( who I met on a couple of occasions ), Tommy garret- all fabulous players and to lose any of them is a sad thing.
RIP Les Paul.

abc 774 is trying to organise les paul guitar owners in some form of tribute and break the world record for number of players playing same song and also raise money for a charity

Had a spare couple of hours yesterday after recording was done, so just for fun, here's a tribute to Mr. Les Paul, also to one of the most admired rock guitarists to ever play a Les Paul, Mr. Randy Rhoads (RIP) so here's "Crazy Train"...recorded using the original recording as a backing track minus the original guitars, I dubbed my own into the mix. The only place where you'll hear Randy's playing is his guitar under the solo, and at the end with the "train" sounds...over that I dubbed the way Randy starts this song live just for something different...RIP Mr Les Paul and Mr. Randy Rhoads.....

Can't say I've ever heard of Randy Rhoads but he has an interesting bio...heavily into classical guitar.
Whatever note you blow youre never more than a semitone away from the correct one....(Miles Davis)
