Default Anyone knows any rock guitar lessons available online?

Hi, I want to learn to play rock guitar but the difficulty is that it’s not possible for me to take private lessons on this and I am thinking of taking online lessons for this. Can anyone suggest me a good source where I can get the needed stuff for a beginner and help me further on to make a better rock guitar player?

Try this one. I haven't tried it, but I just don't have time.

If you can get lessons from George Lynch, you really cant go wrong.

    The other one is :

This guy, Doug Doppler is the feller that took over Joe Satriani's teaching position. Another one I am going to try...one day.

youtube has a plethora of info. Just need to spend some time on the search button.
Start with 'guitar tutorial', and stay the hell away from Dragonforce.

What's wrong with Dragonforce? Everyone on Guitarhero loves them! Is it the Saturday morning cartoon sound they have going or the overly comical lyrics?

Seriously though; if you want tuition on guitar you have to find a one-on-one teacher. There is no substitute for someone actually in the room with you stepping you through things. The main thing is to find someone who can actually play and read music.

    For the record GuitarHero sucks!

Do yourself a favour and get a good teacher. On line tutes and books are ok but an online tutorial or book wont pick up bad habits and correct them before theyre too engrained in your brain to be corrected. If youre short on cash at least do a few lessons right at the start and emphasise to your teacher that youre after basic tutorial with an emphasis on picking up and correcting bad habits.

Learning from a teacher is also a much faster way to learn guitar than working of internet tutorials and books.

take martins advice ...others avenues also are dvd instructionals of your fav artists...
but really, can't stress enough about studying theory and transcribing people you like ...
and the quickest way is to be playing with other people and doing gigs..but really a healthy balance of all these ingredients will see plenty of improvement if you do it daily rather than once a week.

Yeah, u can definitely find a lot of info online for beginning guitar -- and most of it is free. All kinds of videos on youtube and stuff -- but beware....

I just got from the "beginner" level to the "intermediate" level -- but it was with help from an online course that I had to pay for. I had started with the free stuff but the problem was that I couldn't ORGANIZE the free lessons in any kind of moderately rational way.. I was always switching between various videos and there was no order to anything. So I was trying to do scales when I should have just been dealing with really basic picking technique and etc.

So eventually I decided I need to do an actual online course -- http://consumerfilter.org/products/jamorama -- it actually worked pretty well! I might recommend you try it out.

    cheers

The other source (other than the great sites above) is to google for podcasts of guitar lessons - there are many of them - some it seemed general (eg http://myonlineguitar.com/wordpress/), some for folk, a few for rock.... the few i quickly clicked through to seemed to have videos (or at least very good graphics), exercises and some had workbooks in pdf you can printout to work through as you do the online exercises ........ the advantage of the podcasts of course is you can download to your mp3 player (ok iPod!) and work through them in your garage/shed or wherever without having to have the computer on in front of you.
    Regards

    Rob
