ATT: Daddy Cool guitarist robbed
Spread the word and keep your eyes open.
A tragedy has befallen Ross Hannaford, the guitarist of iconic Australian band Daddy Cool.
In the early hours of Saturday morning Ross Hannaford?s white 1989 Toyota Hi-Ace Van QRN 479 was stolen from a Yarraville street. The van was most likely stolen by joy riders, but the real loss is the musical equipment concealed under a tarpaulin in the back.
Ross has lost all his amplifiers, his main guitar, and all his effects pedals. True to Hanna's totally eccentric style, these are no ordinary instruments. They are one-offs and custom mades. Here's a description:
1. Chandler 555 Guitar - customised and hand painted in Red Yellow and Green sunray design - see photo below.
2. Ampeg Jet II amplifier
3. rare 5 watt Diason Amplifier
4. Home made amplifier in Diason Cabinet with Peavey 158 Blazer head and Marantz 12" speaker
5. Green and yellow Indian "hippy" bag with Boss Phrase Sampler, MPX phase 90 and Tremit Tremolo pedal
These instruments are totally irreplaceable, and Ross is not interested in anything but recovering his beloved instruments.
Please circulate this far and wide and if anyone has any information please contact Mark Sydow Management - [email protected]

I read about this in the paper yesturday. I would be devastated if any of my gear was stolen again, so I hope Ross gets all his stuff back just as it was
I've had two guitars stolen in the past. I got one of them back, an old 70's Ibanez Les Paul copy I had in great nick. It had been in the hands of a speed addict who obviously had no idea of what a nice guitar was, because it looked like he had played 100 heavy metal gigs with it when I got it back a few months later after an ex-mate of his told me he had stolen it (junkie lived in some units down the road from me). We also found our missing patio chairs in his unit. The bum didn't even have a couch.
That guitar is pretty unique though, so hopefully it will turn up. In fact it's all pretty rare or unique gear except for maybe the Phase 90 (you don't mean a MXR Phase 90 though?)
I don't know about joyriders stealing a High Ace van either. Probably stolen for parts, or to use in another crime.
Either way, here's hoping Ross gets his stuff back in good order.

On the positive side...some of that equipment is so unique its going to be hard to fence and easy to spot if some scumbag is stupid enough to front up to a gig playing one of the stolen instruments.
Hope Ross gets his gear back.Whatever note you blow youre never more than a semitone away from the correct one....(Miles Davis)

First band I ever saw in concert was Daddy Cool at the Sidney Myer Music bowl. They were in top form back then, didn't know they were still going? I can't remember what year it was, must have been in the 70's I guess. They had a new Saxophonist about then called Jerry, and put out an EP with 'Jerry's Jump on the B side. Not sure what was on the A side.
Hope Ross recovers his gear...

Daddy Cool is not happening anymore but ross is a standin player in many bands around the melbourne scene including his own 3 piece.
it is well worth checking out any band he is with - always great playing at a volume that wont bust your eardrumsray c

I have forwarded this as an Email, and hopefully others will do likewise as well.
Ross, make your bed up with your equipment, that way if they want it, they will have to come in to get it. Sleep on top of it.
I hope the offenders have at least a half a brain, and leave it somewhere safe for you Mate.Buzza.
