    Default Sound of an all bunya cole clark guitar?

    Hi all! I'm new here, I've been searching around for some tidbits of information for a guitar, and wonder if anyone has any experience with the sound of bunya for the back and sides/body of a guitar, and not just the soundboard?

    I've been looking at the option of an all Bunya cole clark where the top is beautiful bunya (not that unusual) and so are the back and sides. Normally they put out maple or blackwood bodies, but I thought I'd go for something unusual.

    Problem is, you'll never find an all bunya in a shop, so I can't test it to find out the sound!

    Has anyone got any tips or experience on what the sound of an all bunya guitar might be like? I'm a fan of blackwood at the moment, so comparisons to that wood on the back and sides would be sweet! Blackwood seems to resonate at the deeper tones a bit and sounds quite full and warm if that makes sense?

    Any expert views or perspectives would be great!

    Hi Jeremy, welcome to the forum,

    Would Bunya be able to withstand the rigors of being used for backs and sides? Soundboard timbers are generally not as tough as the rest of the guitar. Intriguing thought though...

    Interesting, I know Cole Clark does put out the all bunya guitars every now and again as a custom order. My curiosity was aroused when I saw this one up for sale a few months ago!





    Looks to be a beauty, but I wonder if you'd lose that sweet bass tone from the blackwood (not a fan of maple on the back myself, too bright and chimey!).

    Jermany, Bunya is nice soundboard.
    But you have answered your own question, you like blackwood I don't think bunya would have the same sweet sound as a blackwood back & sides, leave it as a soundboard.

    Thanks for the expert opinion. Amazingly I managed to find someone who had recorded some samples from almost identical guitars (one had cutaway, one did not) and the blackwood was definitely richer in the bass tones.

    Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I guess looks aren't everything (not that blackwood isn't beautiful)

    All blackwood acoustic, and they sound and play great.
