    Default Steampunk Build

Hi folks. Sorry I haven't gotten that silicon bass sound sample up yet... i've been so engrossed in this new project that I haven't take the time to sit down and practice playing it. I will get it up at some point.. promise!

This new project is a steampunk themed invention of my own. It's basically a 3-string lap slide guitar, but there is a 4th string on its own, off-set scale length. The idea is to fret the bass string with your thumb while you use the slide on the other 3 strings. I still have lots more work to do, but she's coming along..

The starting lumber is an old mahogany casting form:

The tuner knobs are made from skeleton keys:

    Fretboards installed:

This microphone will control the light organ, allowing the LEDs to respond to the music being played on the instrument:

Control box started. The candelabra socket happened to thread perfectly on the plumbing connector so i've let this coincidence decide its placement. The socket has been hollowed out to allow the light organ wires to run up into a hollowed out S6 light bulb that will contain the LEDs

Control box progress. Controls are series/parallel toggle, volume, tone, and light organ on/off.

That is seriously cool looking. And actually functional steampunk bits, not just decoration!

You realise that you'll need a chick wearing aviator goggles to display the finished product?

Default Back in myyyyyy day,,,,, blah, blah, blah

Man that would scare the tang out of most rednecks and ardent traditionalists
I mean, they could have made a perfectly good moonshine stil out of all that metal
Then again, from the looks of it, it possibly does that too, right?
I just hope you grounded it with industrial power cable
Looks awesome dude. I bet it sounds "unique" too.
Its good to see people doing something different,,,, now that's inventive-ness-ing-ness!

Brilliant, inspiring but be careful of those Morlocks when it shunts you too far froward in time.

If so, the wire is waaaaaaay too thick, should be near abouts to 42AWG.
Plus you need around 6000 winds per coil,,,, typically.
Looks like you only have about 50 winds on the long one.
Im not having a winge, just don't wanna see you go to all that trouble for no output.
It'll be interesting to see what happens though.
Be sure to have it streaming live on video, for prosperity of course
