Double stick tape. Cheap but an absolute pain in the ####. Especially when radiusing where you have to keep changing grits. I keep saying that I'm gonna buy the adhesive stuff but always pull out due to price

G'day Ray,
As Floody says, double sided tape. I use tape from a place called 'BioLink' in Bundoora. Cost me 20 bucks for a 50mmx50m roll of what they call (if I remember correctly) 'venue tape' or maybe 'function tape'.
High tack one side and low tack the other, it's used for sticking carpet down temporary in venues. The great thing is that it's 1/10mm thick and a plastic substrate, so pulls off cleanly when it's done with and doesn't compress like a foam tape.
I use it to stick timber to a carrier board when thicknessing truss rod covers and headplates in the drum sander. No more splits of the 1.5mm wood when I try and peel them off.
You may be able to use something like that and with a grit change, peel it off, put it back on the waxed paper and keep it ready for the next time you need it.
I just wandered in to the place and talked to the bloke in there and he cut me a roll on the spot. You could get a roll up to a couple of meters wide if you want.
Hope this helps.

Aldi have double sided tape for $2.99 per roll - 50mm wide. Use this to stick to pad and sandpaper.
No association with Aldi.
