New lot of old growth logs Just arrived at the mill and these logs are very old.
These are the type of logs where I find the most figure, I expect to find some beautiful fiddleback in some of the logs.
I will post photos as soon as possible of billets after the logs have been sawn.
    Cheers Bob

Well as promised photos of some of the boards that I have had resawn from one of the logs, I had a few boards resawn to only 20mm thickness x 200mm wide so I could get a few quick photos.
Board 2890 will give a good idea of the quality, boards are full of fiddleback and 3 dimensional it will look magic in Electric and Acoustic guitars.
    Cheers, Bob

Little bit of resawing over the weekend, for forum member who required highly figured blackwood back & side set, plus matching soundboard.

Have been prepping some of the blackwood I got from Bob.

The top with bot fiddleback and spalting. I know what your thinking Bob.. Bugger spalting should have charged him more. Just kidding. I had no idea until it came out of the drum sander.

    Matching back plate

Did up a neck blank with a tapered highly figured stringer

    Cheers

G'Day Peter, This build is going look so sweet, I did know about the spalting Peter that was a bonus. . Stu got 2 large billets from the same log.
I shall follow this build with interest, I am also looking forward to seeing photos of the finished fiddleback mountain ash top and white sassafras body. Cheers, Bob

Hi Andy, yes mate it is suitable for necks.
So is Tasmanian Myrtle, Tasmanian blackwood, Also Tasmanian Sassafras.
P.S. there also is a few other Tasmanian species available suitable for necks.Mountain Ti Tree, Leatherwood, Lancewood, I just sent a large order to the U.K. mixed species to a custom Bass builder, who does a lot of neck laminations.
    Cheers, Bob.

    Default Guitar builders ?

Thanks Bob - I enjoy looking at your wood so much. Can't wait to get my hands on some for my first acoustic build!!! I've put together a few electrics here in the UK but looking forward to coming back home and getting set up for acoustic and archtop building (and some electrics as well of course ). I'll be getting in touch for sure.
