Hi fellow guitar makers, I'm back it again. Picked up a nice 2 metre length of Purple Heart about 290x40mm. And for free also, long story how that happened. Then I got a bit more Hornbeam the other day.

This will be for two through necks, both identical (I think), one for me (of course) and one for my son. Let's see how these turn out.

Back again, got a bit more work done on these two guitars. Routered the pickup cavities today. The Purple Heart sure is a hard timber and the Hornbeam is nearly as hard. Sure made my 1 inch flush trim router bit work hard.

These guitars are happening in between other projects. No Plans for these guitars, all in my head

I ordered two sets of Seymour Duncan Vintage Blues 59 pickups. They arrived the other day.

Hi all, Done a bit more work on these guitars today. I'm pretty happy with them so far. The router bit I use to follow my templates I make, worries me a bit, certainly don't want to get my fingers too close to it.

Moving along very slowly. But pretty happy with how things are going. No truss rods as yet, still waiting on them. One guitar still in clamps. I give them two days with Titebond 111 Premium. Still a long way to go yet though.

I'll have to put these aside for a bit, a couple of custom box orders have come in, I need to concentrate on.

Coming along nicely! I don't play guitar yet, I have my first acoustic being delivered to me tomorrow (excited). Would love to make one of my own next year some time, been watching lots of YouTube. Man, what a lot of work involved. Up for the challenge though.

Very cool and interesting. My daughter wants me to build her a guitar but I've got no idea where to start.

Thanks Gents, I don't have a lot of equipment but I get by. I watch some of those blokes on youtube and are envious of their setups with all their equipment. These two will take my tally to ten. That's it I think for me. This is all just a hobby for me, but its very addictive also. My first two I have now given to my two youngest grandsons. My 3rd and 4th I swapped to a bloke for a Gretch resonator acoustic, but didn't really like it. Ended up selling that on Gumtree. So that now leaves me with my last 4, one of which was an acoustic. One and only acoustic. I think it took me longer to make all the moulds and 30 foot diameter basins etc than the guitar, well not really I guess, but it did take ages. One of these current builds will be for my son and one for me.

    Hi Gents

I haven't got much headway done. A couple of custom box orders have been taking up most of my time.

    Both bodies cut out now.

    Hi guys,

Well I finally got around to putting in some solid hours to these two guitars. I was totally tied up before Christmas, selling about 20 boxes in a fortnight leading up. Now back to these guitars.

As of now they are close to the final sand, I still have to put a couple of contours into them, for the ribcage area and the armrest area. Oh yes, and I still need to put the side fretmarker dots in, mustn't forget that.

I am thinking of doing a WOP finish, not having done that before any tips on it?

Looking great Paul ..... please do one more and do a full wip
When it comes to cutting the fretboard slots how accurate do you have to be on the spacing as to not effect the tone?

Hi there Sir S, and thanks.

The fretboard slots are very important. Muck them up and its all a disaster. I've made myself a jig wherein I can cut the slots in a blank fretboard totally accurate and don't have to measure a thing. I use a Les Paul scale length on all my guitars I made so far, except for the acoustic guitar. I was selling fretboards already slotted on Ebay for about $35 with postage, sold about 15 and haven't got around to slotting any more. I have about 8 or so blanks on my bench waiting.
