Whatcha doing THIS weekend?
Here's some progress pics
Rib garland nearly complete:
Hogging tools. That's one mother of a gouge.
Shaping the top. I've filled up two big bins with shavings so far.
This last pic is a bit ugly but it shows how much wood has to come off.

Zebrano cut
That looks like a lot of work.
I bought an ugly short slab of Zebrano to make a cajon for Afro.
It has cracks and shakes so it might end up being used for making cabinet knobs.
If will rip it into narrower boards and reglue it to try to control the cracking.
I'll resaw it so I can get the black and white stripes to run all around the drum.
If you hear a loud bang and a lot of swearing you will know what happened.Scally

That's coming along very nicely ,Matthew.
Who would have thought all that pushing matchbox cars around as a kid
would become the vital training tool required in the finer points of
carving with an instrument maker's plane.
It's all in the grip.
cheers, Stu

I started the neck on my Archtop and glued up the top (redwood) and tried out my new Veritas squirrel tailed palm plane, very nice much more comfortable than my small Ibex finger plane. I think it will be a real wood hog.
