You wouldn't be posting here if it wasn't for a computer but a computer is only as good as the people who make them, program them and use them
The person who never made a mistake never made anything

My little cnc runs off windows 7.....since i sorted the electronics eight years ago it has not missed a beat. I often have it run non stop for the whole day. If you do the design and installation correctly you would have few hassles. My larger machine might be ready to start by the end of this week

That's certainly a rigid looking machine. I can see where the weight is in it, solid as a rock, as they should be.

Will have to see how it performs. But yes its very rigid, just hope the steppers have enough power to move all that weight

    Hi Erick,
NICE one. How many speeds is it and what capacity is the chuck?

Thanks....meaning to buy one for ages. Should have bought one before starting the cnc router build. I used a tiny ozito bench drill to drill most of the pre machined holes.

    16 Speed - 160 - 3000 Rpm
    16 mm chuck

Nice sized chuck and good speed range.

Should be fine for my requirements. I do however plan an addition to my cnc router to drill precision holes in the sides of aluminium plates.

    As in a 4th axis?????
Could you list the speeds of your drill please? Looking to get another one later in the year, and would like one that doesn't have big gaps between some of the lower speeds. Tried to find the details on line, all they tell you is it's a 16 speed, with a 16mm chuck 540watt motor, that's supposed to be 3/4HP??
    Thanks,
    Kryn

No not a fourth axis....just a clamping plate on the side of the machine. I had difficulty drilling sides of the plates of my machine, wanted to build a dedicated cnc drill for this purpose but then i found that with a small addition my new machine could do it I will look at the speeds when i get home and post it here....

If you can do that then you can set it up to cut dovetails too.

Great idea, only problem is i will be limited to a length/height of 300 mm. Moving my machine closer to the edge of the stand is not an option cause where i placed it there is no chance of sagging under the machine feet. If i could have moved it then i would have had a distance of 1.2 m...

Well if the wood can't go into the stand then you're out of luck. Still good for small boxes though. Your next machine perhaps.
