Hi.. picked up this 8 inch B&D saw recently as a resto project.. the lever to operate the guard has been broken off..
before i begin to make one, has someone an identical saw so as to give me an idea of what it looks like ?
Cheers .. Ken.

Hi Ken,
This one should be close.
It is actually a 6 inch. Let me know if you need more.
Not sure how old mine is. It blonged to my father and I think he bought it second hand probably 25 - 30 years ago.
Pretty agricultural and specially heavy by todays standards.

Just curious, what year are we taking about with this model? I've got a B&D which I bought 1974-76 as best as I can recall, it does not look anything like the models pictured.
Hi guys.. I don't know how old mine is.. i'm more of a "Sher" man, but i'm guessing late 60's ?.
On stripping mine down i noticed that the castings all came from England !!.. this is a bit contradictory to their website..
I quote..
"1957 - Black & Decker® opened a major manufacturing complex in Croydon, Victoria, affording the capacity to manufacture, rather than just assemble parts from overseas".
Interesting ..hmm.
Dave's saw is a lot earlier, and is similar to this on on utube
