FYI
I have noticed there is a lot of threads by people looking for timber suppliers in Perth. For some reason it seems to be a challenge to easily find a supplier over here within the metro area.
So far I have been to Bunnings (only supply Jarrah, Pine and Tassie Oak), Gunns (also only supply Jarrah, Pine and Tassie Oak). The stuff at Gunns is really second rate, I get a handfull of spinters every time I pick some wood and you have to be really carefull when you go through the racks for pieces that do not have splits through the pieces. I have found the Bunnings stuff to be good quality but I know that it can be had cheaper elsewhere, like everything in Bunnings.
Yesterday I tried a new mob I found out about called Austim which are located in Wangara. They have a very good selection of exotic timbers, how ever you have to dress it yourself or have this done somewhere.
I have a price list here but I dont know of anywhere else that sells these timbers so I can't compare. I bought some Sheoak and Tassie Blackwood the Sheoak is $22.96 Lm for 175x25.
Whilst I was there I also grabbed a pile of samples that have been made up. Really handy reference to show somebody what a piece looks like when finished.
Hope this helps some others trying to source timber in Perth.
Cheers
