Hands of time?
I haven't been able to do much lately due to ongoing health issues, but I finally finished this clock. Some time ago, my niece asked me to make a clock held in the hands (somewhat art deco). I got her to hold a tin can and took some photos then traced out the shapes on the computer, scaled it to the size of wood (Brazilian Mahogany) I had.
I did almost nothing for two years!!!! I could not afford to buy carving chisels. In the end, I got desperate and just carved it with an ordinary 13mm paring chisel.
I know it is not perfect but she loves it and after all that was the reason for making it.
70mm insert
Cheers, Chipman

Oh Boy!! If that's what you can do with a paring chisel, I'd love to see what you could do with a full set of Pfeils!!!! "I tips me 'at"

I agree with Crunchie, I tip mine as well. A exquisite piece of carving :)

Chipman: That's wonderful. It's amazing what can be done when there aren't 3,000 different carving tools in front of you. Your versatility and skill with simple tools is a reminder to us all with a few more.

Great concept. I love your thought process on this with the title. Fantastic job. Get that man some carving tools. Thanks for showing.

More photos
Many thanks for the kind comments. Here are the rest of the photos I have of the clock. You will no doubt see some flaws in the closeups.

Chipman thats one special piece shows you do not need top range tools like in the old days what ever came to hand was made to work.:2tsup:

Hi Chipman, Great work there and beautifull wood, looks fantastic. Don't worry about any flaws,as far as you and your niece are concerned they just do not exist. Critics look for flaws the rest of us don't, not all of us are perfect, we just do the best we can with the talent and tools we have. Keep up the good work. Brian
