Many woodies on the forums, have bought some nice timbers from Mal Ward over the years. Greg and I have helped to give him an on-line presence.
It's early days. We need a better pic of Mal, need to tidy up some writing, and get the domain name sorted, but it's starting to come together.
Feel free to send me a message or post any suggestions or comments.

Seriously, you won't buy better and those who have met Mal know what a terrific bloke he is.
One of life's little pleasures is touring the woodstacks with him.

I've added an e-mail sign up box to the site. When ever there is a new post, eg. information about a upcoming wood show or new exciting load of timber, it'll go on the website and get emailed out to you automatically.
Looking good:U, I like the news letter idea too, even though I talk to Mal on a very regular basis the new letter will be very good.:2tsup:

looking good! I think the photo gallery really gives a feel for the premises and tough life out there. Of course the timber speaks for itself.

Anyway Thanks for the comments, though I guess the jury is still out on the Qld Walnut 10mm boards? Could you use them after the split?
I've got some dry inch boards, 10" wide, 1 metre long here now. They are backsawn, yet one board has developed a split as well. Good colour though with some sapwood.
Anyway..... Have I read your blog incorrectly, are there later up and down thoughts?
How about some photos of your work!

Training wheels perhaps, but we have managed to update the website with some recent photos and Dan can now rest in peace.
Some beautiful shots of wide flamed Mackay cedar slabs and red cedar boards.
I'd like to know if the update sent emails automatically to anyone?

Feedburner, the program that emails out the RSS feed, only emails once a day... so give it 24 hours to see if it works.
Looks good. Should we limit it to one post on the front page? Or have it so that you can see several like it is now.
I'll log in later and make the font slightly larger.
William (son) has set it a 5 posts for the front page.
He has also added a new photo of Mal. A little smaller, but looking like a bushie should....

Greg, I thought the mug shot was the Robbers Dog, not Mal. I like the size of the burls on the timber page. Can you make sure Mal brings down some 2 - 3" thick burl slices to the Sydney show, they are good to do platters with :U

Spotted, yes thanks for that. It is quite apropriate since 95% of my timber that goes into my furniture comes from Mal.
When linking to an external site, use in your HTML target="blank" so it opens in a new page, stops visitors navigating away with every external link.

Walnut is all split down the guts. Its been racked since I saw you. As for my work, well its taken about six weeks but Ive cracked Bamboo Jews Harps! Dan has posted some information, back about 3 threads, showing major cities and viewing numbers. Sydney leading, but even viewers from the US and UK, Spain, Kiev, Japan, perhaps members of various forums, but certainly shows the spread that a simple blog can generate.
Hopefully some sales will also result in time.
I'll get Mal to take some shots at Brisbane www show and we can post them.

Got my shiny new news letter for April, this is going to be bad, having all this georgous timber put under my nose every month. It was bad enough before ordering the timber I need, now I also will have the timber I WANT put up there. Oh well I get tool pawn news letter I am sure I can handle timber pawn as well.

Looks good.
Mal is up at the Brisbane www wood show this weekend and I have aksed him to take some shots ther so we can add those as well.
It has now moved from a work in progress to something more substantial and the blackbutt from Port Macquarie's red soil, will give him some nice slabs, stair treads and boards.
He still has a large butt pieces from another blackbutt tree, too big for the band saw mill, so he will have to use the Lucas.
the trouble is, he is spoilt now, the bandsaw mill makes life so much easier....

I emailed Mal last night an order for my next two projects. Blacket box and book case out of cedar. Bookcase have a pale silver ash backing. Fun times.

I scored some QLD maple from Mal, lovely stuff at an amazing price. I have bookmarked the site.
Just updated the timber selection page on the site. It may seem a simple page but took over an hour to clean up and get all the links right...
Just had another thought. People seem to voicing support spontaneously. Anyone keen to write some little paragraph of testimony to go on the site about your dealings with Boutique Timbers?

yep, can't say enough about Mals service and timber, I use maybe 3 - 5 tons a year almost all from Mal. The timber is of good quality and freight costs and times are minimal. If you want something unusual or a large slab etc Mals your man.
