I have a real interest in sharpening. As I have moved on to a new phase in my woodworking does it have a section on carving knives and gouges.

I like to make my own knives , so have to start from scratch and build up to razor sharp. I am not sure but I am beginning to think with carving your tools have to way sharper then wood chisels and wood turning tools.

I received my 2 books last week. $53.25 for Lee's sharpening book, a very comprehensive book on hand planes, and freight. It took 9 days from wherever Amazon is to Perth. The sharpening book is very good, covering metallurgy, how chisels/planes cut and lots of interesting stuff. :2tsup:

FWIW my Kobo ebook reader doesn't do a good job of displaying PDFs.

And I'm not going to test it in this case with the hard copy to hand.

Ern's on the mark again... I've got a Sony ereader, and its usually pretty good, but this book is hopeless! Most of the photos don't show any detail at all, the page display is terrible and the pictures are generally not attached to their captions!

I've been reading it in bed, but I might have to give up and read it on the laptop instead.

Thanks for the link, though, byc, the information in the book is invaluable, and I'd never have found money for the full price version.
