Nail Finder
Hi all,
I'm about to start planing 70 Tasi Oak picket fence palings. I've gone thru each and have removed the nails.
Is there a nail finder (like to old stud finders) that I can wave over the paling that will beep or flash when a nail is found?

Thanks,

I seen a few guys using Proper metal detectors. But unless you already have one they can be very expensive. Never know you may just be able to pick one up cheap somewhere. then you can go look for gold too!! http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/smile.gif

Hi Barry
I use a stud finder in "metal" mode, works OK. Seems to pick up any nails big enough to damage a saw blade, but pin sized nails broken off below the surface may not show up. Sometimes, as in Friday, I just press on and find the nails with a saw blade. In this case a 14" mitre saw. SH#%! See ya. Rod

Gooday. That a new model saw?
The 14" mitre saw. SH#%96
Does it do good job? Does it cut left and right mitres? Can it do compound angles as well? http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/wink.gif

Hi . Its a new sort of blade(now). Its got little bevels on the teeth, like a triple chip, but only on one side and sort of randomly placed. Lucky its near the end of it servicable life. See ya. Rod

Seems to me the surest way to find small bits of metal that nothing else will detect is to run a sharp plane over the wood! Works every time for me.
