Hello to all the members I’m seriously thing of buying a small CNC machine to do some minor miniature carvings on some wood turning jobs and I was wondering if any other members have bought a 4 Axis CNC 3020 ROUTER ENGRAVER DRILLING / MILLING MACHINE , With Claw Chuck from Ebay
If you have one or know of any one who has one how is it working did you get soft ware with it what problems have you had with it etc
Your feed back will be greatly appreciated

That 4th axis would be very limited in what it can do. Not enough travel in the Z axis to turn anything of decent size. Also not much X axis left to turn anything of length.
Apart from that machine looks ok and probably will be typical Chinese build. I got a similar machine with 4th axis and it works OK - not great but it works and priced better than I can buy the parts to make one. The 4th axis I got was smaller and had a tailstock.
I got a pirated version of Mach3 with the machine. I have a legit copy so used that and the file of instructions they gave was next to useless. Be prepared to problem solve and you will get it going and it will be a good start to CNC projects. Price is the incentive for buying this machine. If you want a no problem turn key solution then look elsewhere.

I can't comment on the 4th axis, but I got a 3-axis machine from the same seller, I'm very happy with it, for a low cost machine I've found it to be very good.
I've doing some upgrades, fitting a bigger spindle motor ( 800W water cooled) and I've got some 100W Yaskawa AC servos to replace the steppers.
If you opt to run EMC2 I can give you a copy of the configuration files we ended up with.
All in all a nice machine, it has it's limitations, but for the money I think it's a ripper.

I need the help of you CNC experts there are a few CNC machines on EBay looking more at the 4 axis routers for the work I would like to do on my wood turning items, soft ware is another issue.

I'm looking to make jigsaw puzzles and small toys. 200w seems to be quite small, most hand routers are 700w at least? So I'm guessing this will overheat quite fast if used continuously. I'd be cutting plywood sheet of 8mm most of the time.
If I get the 4 axis and upgrade the spindle, how many hours a day will this run? 0.5mm consistent accuracy will do for me.

0.5mm accuracy is not acceptable. 0.01 should be considered an absolute minimum for accuracy but try for 0.001. It is unlikely that you will obtain quite this degree of accuracy because of various mechanical limitations which tend to be cumulative.Quote:
